Any message sent to or from WAYF will receive a time stamp.
WAYF validates the time stamps of all messages and makes sure they all fall within the tolerated range.
The time difference between WAYF servers and those of the service/institution must not exceed 60 seconds. If this limit is exceeded, WAYF will report failure when end users attempt to access services through WAYF.
WAYF recommends that any server connecting to WAYF have its clock synchronised with that of an official time server.
Examples of time servers:
- ntp.ubuntu.com
- dk.pool.ntp.org
- de.pool.ntp.org
- se.pool.ntp.org
