New WAYF user experience from 2 July

On Monday 2 July WAYF will initiate roll-out of its new software platform in production. User experience will be basically the same as with the platform used up until now. A couple of things, however, will be different:

WAYF will remember where you are from

When in the future you log in at a particular service from the same institution for the second time in a row, WAYF will propose that you always log in from that institution when trying to access that service. If you accept this proposal, you will in the future see the institution's login page as soon as you have clicked the login button at the website of the service, i.e. you will not be asked where you are from. This setting is tied to the browser and can be changed at any time at the location my.wayf.dk should the need arise for the user to log in at the service from a different institution.

Example: A user from the University of Copenhagen (‘KU’) points his browser to https://sciencedata.dk for the first time, pushes the Login via institution button there, chooses University of Copenhagen on the list, logs in with his KU account, and is granted access to the Science Data service. On the next day in the same browser he visits https://sciencedata.dk again, pushes the Login via institution button again, then chooses University of Copenhagen on the list again — but is now asked if he wants to log in from University of Copenhagen always when attempting to access Science Data. He pushes OK, logs in using his KU account, and is granted access to Science Data, like the day before. When a few days later he accesses https://sciencedata.dk again, pushing the Login via institution button, he immediately sees the login page of University of Copenhagen — he is not asked where he is from.

You are informed of data processing only the first time you log in

In those cases where the user's information changes hands from one data responsible to another, WAYF will, instead of the consent dialogue used so far, display a page detailing what information is transferred, the identities of the sending and recipient organisations, and the purpose of the processing. This informative page is shown only the first time the user accesses a particular service using a particular institutional account. If the user wants to see the informative page again, he can always point his browser to my.wayf.dk (“myWAYF”) and there delete the registration that the informative page was displayed when he accessed the service in question using the particular institutional account.
